Rennsli created our Icelandic Salt and Charcoal Face & Body bar after our highly inspirational 2019 road trip around the isle of Iceland when we learned all about Iceland's magical sea salt harvesting that started in the 18th century when the Danish king established its salt industry using geothermal energy. The production stopped a few decades later and the tradition of saltmaking in Iceland came to an end until 2011 when Saltverk was founded and reestablished the Icelandic salt making processes. The salt in our bar is hand harvested, sustainable sea salt made by Saltverk that we combine with activated charcoal and a subtle woodsmoke scent. Salt naturally absorbs dirt, grime, and toxins and cleanses your skin's pores deeply while salt's mineral content helps restore the protective barrier in the skin and helps it hold hydration. Activated charcoal effectively cleanses the skin, unclogs pores, removes deeper impurities, and dead skin cells. Dirt, toxins, heavy metals, chemicals, and other poisons are attracted to the charcoal molecules and then washed away. The result is smooth, supple, and even-toned skin.
